Our Mission
Privacy Salon aims to critically inform the broader public, policy-makers and industry about privacy, data protection, and other social, cultural and ethical issues that are raised by the introduction of new technologies in our societies.
With a small but motivated and international team, Privacy Salon brings together a vibrant community through artistic, professional, social and cultural projects and events in Belgium, Europe and beyond.
Achieving Our Mission
The objectives of Privacy Salon reflect its mission and are focused on:
The promotion of Belgium and Brussels as the European knowledge centre of privacy and data protection.
Bringing together the main stakeholders to meet in an atmosphere of mutual respect to exchange ideas and debate emerging issues surrounding new technologies, fundamental rights, and privacy and data protection.
Contribute to the development of privacy-related products, exhibitions, processes and activities with the aim of raising awareness of the importance of privacy-centric conversations in the digital society.
Privacy Salon is a non-profit – organisation founded by Paul de Hert, Rosamunde van Brakel and Ulrich Seldeslachts in 2014. Privacy Salon vzw builds upon the wealth of experience and network of the research group LSTS at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel , the well-known Computers, Privacy and Data-Protection Conferences and the European Network of Security Professionals, Research and Industry - LSEC.
